Patient Care Team

Volunteer Tasks

  • Companionship and Presence: Simply sitting with the patient, holding their hand, or engaging in "life review" (listening to stories about their past).

Reporting Observations: While volunteers do not provide medical advice, they can alert the nursing staff if they notice a change in the patient's breathing, comfort levels, or if the family is in distress.

  • "The Gift of Time": Staying with the patient so the caregiver can nap, shower, go to the grocery store, or attend their own medical appointments.

Emotional Venting: Often, the caregiver needs someone to talk to about their stress and fatigue just as much as the patient does.ption text goes here

    • Music and Art: Playing soft music or engaging in simple creative activities if the patient is able.

    • Letter Writing: Helping the patient write letters, cards, or emails to loved ones to help them stay connected.

    • Legacy Projects: Helping the patient record their history or create a scrapbook for their family.
